Demonstrations of various types are regularly held on the steps and grounds of the Utah State Capitol Building situated at the top of State Street in Salt Lake City, Utah. People gather to demonstrate and express their views on various matters of public interest.

A recent demonstration was held by a group which met as a protest against the Taliban rule in Afghanistan. The United Afghan American Coalition held a peaceful protest of the Taliban takeover in Afghanistan. There were dozens of people who showed up and shared their stories on the steps of the Utah state Capitol Building. Dozens of people participated in telling their personal stories.

The following information was shared from fox13now.com:
Ravina Ghani said it is devastating to see what is happening in Afghanistan. She was born there but has been in America most of her life. She has heard stories of the Taliban from family members who have been victims.
“They [the Taliban] are there to do terrorism. They are there to kill our people — the women, the children, the old, it doesn’t matter where you are from there, they will kill you,” Ghani said.
Soina Rahimi also used her voice to share her concerns over what’s happening in Afghanistan.
“My dad was killed because of the Taliban. My mom was pregnant 8 months when my father passed away. They killed my father in front of my mom,” she said.
Rahimi said she still has family and friends in Afghanistan.
“Right now, every day they are calling me, they are texting me, they are saying, 'Please help me, please do something so we can come to America.' What am I supposed to do?” she said.
Advocates called on everyone to put pressure on congressional leaders to help expedite passports and help get Afghan people safely to America and to stand by them.

Several people shared the personal stories of their family and friends who are suffering in a land far away. They are remembering these people and trying to help if they can.
