In the heart of downtown Salt Lake City is The John W. Gallivan Utah Center called "The Gallivan Center." It is an open space located at 239 South Main Street. It serves the residents of Salt Lake City and the surrounding areas with a variety of activities. One of the events scheduled during the summer on Tuesday evenings at The Gallivan Center is the "Big Band Tuesday" event. Tuesday evenings at 7:00 PM a local band is featured. They have dance lessons which begin at 7 with a band concert to follow at 7:30. This is an opportunity to listen to big band music as well as to receive dance lessons from Ballroom Utah. The concerts and dance lessons are free, and the public is invited to attend.
The Big Band Tuesdays are presented by Excellence in the Community. They feature many of the best Utah musicians for free live concerts as well as live-streamed events.
