This is an opportunity to see the Eagles perform live. The Eagles have been one of the most successful music groups from the 1970s. They were ranked No. 75 of the 100 greatest artists of all time by Rolling Stone. They have had six No. 1 albums, five No. 1 singles, and have received six Grammy Awards. They have sold over 100 million albums throughout the world.
The Eagles were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and also the Vocal Group Hall of Fame. Two of their greatest and most successful albums are Hotel California and The Greatest Hits (1971-1975).
The current members of the Eagles are Don Henley, Joe Walsh and Timothy Schmit. Former members include Glenn Frey, Bernie Leadon, Randy Meisner and Don Felder.
There are various versions of how they chose their name of the Eagles.
The Eagles started out as Teen King and the Emergencies. They changed their name to the Eagles after a trip to the Mojave Desert where they imbibed quite a bit of tequila and peyote. Beyond this, accounts of how the band name was picked vary, likely to the influences they were under. Felder says it was because he had read about the Hopi's reverence for eagles, Souther says it came from Frey shouting "Eagles" when seeing eagles flying above them and a friend of the band, Steve Martin, claims he suggested the name.
