Government is very important in the lives of all citizens of the United States. We are all affected by it every day. Learning about the political process and becoming involved in community affairs will help make enlightened citizens.

Asian Pacific Islanders (APIs) have a presence in Utah and are concerned with civic matters. They have planned an event to help educate others about civic engagement.

A Utah Asian Pacific Islander Day on the Hill is planned as a virtual event to be held on Friday, January 28, 2022, from 11:30 am to 1:00 pm. It will be a Zoom meeting to which the public is invited to join although it has been planned and organized by API groups within the state.

OCA Asian Pacific Islander American Advocates: Utah Chapter, one of the sponsors of the event, sent out a notice inviting people to join the meeting. It read:
Join us as we discuss the importance of civic engagement in our communities and the ways we can do so through civic engagement. We will talk about the current legislative session, lobbying, and navigating bills and tracking while hearing from some of our elected officials.

The Utah State Legislature is currently in session at the Utah State Capitol. They will be introducing, debating, and voting on many important bills which may become law.

This is a good time to become more engaged in community affairs and the governmental process for passing bills. It is an important matter for all citizens to understand.

Details for registering for the Zoom event are listed above. Please sign up if you have any interest in learning more about civic engagement.
