In a normal year, there would be thousands of people who would brave the cold weather to visit Park City to attend the Sundance Film Festival. The annual event started by Robert Redford, who is the President and Founder of the Sundance Film Festival, generally draws filmmakers, actors, and participants from many different areas across the United States and the world.

In addition to the skiers who flock to Park City, people involved with the movie industry and those who want to view quality films would be among the crowds in the small mountain town of Park City, Utah.

This year the Sundance Film Festival is once again being held mostly virtually due to the COVID pandemic and concerns. Films of many types have been selected and will be shown throughout the festival which runs from January 20 through January 30, 2022.

The Sundance Film Festival is an annual film festival organized by the Sundance Institute. It is the largest independent film festival in the United States, with more than 46,660 attending in 2016. It takes place each January in Park City, Utah; Salt Lake City, Utah; and at the Sundance Resort, and acts as a showcase for new work from American and international independent filmmakers. The festival consists of competitive sections for American and international dramatic and documentary films, both feature films and short films, and a group of out-of-competition sections, including NEXT, New Frontier, Spotlight, Midnight, Sundance Kids, From the Collection, Premieres, and Documentary Premieres. The Sundance Film Festival has been held each year in Park City, Utah (except for the COVID years). Hundreds of films have been introduced at the Festival since 1985. Redford founded the Institute in 1981 to "foster independence, risk-taking, and new voices in American film."

Although most of the Sundance Film Festival is online this year, there are some people in Park City working on the Festival. Check out the website for more information and to obtain tickets for the films.
