Who needs an introduction of the marvelous, iconic, sweet, tragic personality, career, and life of the one and only diva, Marilyn Monroe?

Today more than ever, fashion and beauty bloggers are inspired by her looks, charm, and personality.

And there isn't a beauty saloon or pub in the world that hasn't featured one of her pictures, somewhere.

While everyone knows Marilyn as the universal symbol of femininity and charm, maybe not so many are aware of her acting skills, and that she appeared in beautiful productions, performing charming roles.

Here's a list with what Marilyn Monroe movies to start watching, if you want to better understand her unique personality, charm, and also - acting skills.

Gentlemen Prefer Blondes (1953)

This 1953 film, adaptation of the 1949 musical, released by 20th Century Fox, was directed by Howard Hawks, starring Marilyn Monroe and Jane Russell.

It's best known for its musical acts with the two Hollywood legends, and a curious fact is that despite the film's title, Monroe was paid her usual contract salary of $500 a week, while Russell, then the better known actress, earned $200,000. (Wikipedia)

The movie remained in history for the charming, funny, iconic performance of Marilyn Monroe portraying a gold digger with the name of Lorelei Lee.

Also, the movie is best known for her famous performance in "Diamonds Are a Girl's Best Friend" and her pink dress, which are considered iconic also in our times, maybe more than ever.

The performance has inspired homages by Madonna, Beyoncé, Geri Halliwell, Kylie Minogue, Nicole Kidman, Margot Robbie, Anna Nicole Smith, Christina Aguilera, Ariana Grande, and James Franco. (Wikipedia). Lifestyle, fashion and beauty influencers all over the world copy her hairstyle, make-up, and looks, without ever reaching the one and only Marilyn.

The film is also linked to another famous production starring Jane Russel, called Gentlemen Marry Brunettes, from 1955.

Let's Make Love (1960)

The musical comedy where she appears together with the charming French actor and singer Yves Montand, is also a special story about femininity.

Marilyn is the icon of the feminine charm impersoned.

This is the main reason that I loved this movie: girls, if you want a true school about how to be extremely feminine and charming, you must absolutely watch this movie.

The plot revolves around billionaire Jean-Marc Clément (Montand) who learns that he is to be satirized in an off-Broadway revue. After going to the theatre, he sees Amanda Dell (Monroe) rehearsing the Cole Porter song "My Heart Belongs to Daddy", and, by accident, the director thinks him an actor suitable to play himself in the revue. Bus Stop (1956)

This is probably my favorite Marilyn Monroe movie of all, and that's because the story is simple, and incredibly pure and beautiful.

The second reason is that Marilyn shows amazing acting skills, that no one would guess in such a charming, feminine young lady.

A movie to watch, absolutely.

Some Like It Hot (1959)

The absolutely hilarious, charming comedy was directed by the one and only Billy Wilder, and had as leading actors Marilyn Monroe, Tony Curtis, and Jack Lemmon.

This is also a Marilyn Monroe to absolutely see, the iconic romantic comedy of all times, probably one of the most charming ever created.

During 1981, following the worldwide success of the French comedy La Cage aux Folles, United Artists relaunched Some Like It Hot in Theaters.

In 2000, the American Film Institute ranked Some Like Jazz as the greatest comedy film of all time. (source: Wikipedia)

How to Marry a Millionaire (1953)

This classic romance comedy was the first film ever produced in Cinema Scope, it was directed by the Romanian Jean Negulesco, and stars Lauren Bacall, Marilyn Monroe and Betty Grable, who have financial issues and seek to marry some wealthy fellows, to get them out of trouble.

This film is probably the best ever for costumes and dresses, in Old Hollywood. It's a display of wonderful feminine outfits, that should be an inspiration in every lady's wardrobe.

Interesting facts:

Actress Nicole Kidman bought the rights to How to Marry a Millionaire, and plans to produce a new screenplay for this film, with a possible role in the distribution of the film. (Source: Wikipedia)
