The 71st Edition of the Famous Music Festival of San Remo, Italy, just finished yesterday.

This was a special edition, as you can imagine, due to Covid restrictions.

The entire San Remo town was in a red area, meaning everyone was in quarantine, not allowed to leave their houses except for work and necessities.

This year, the famous music festival had no public: more outside, more inside. It has been decided like that, for securing the Covid safety measures for distancing and protection.

The only "public" allowed inside the music hall was the orchestra, who did an amazing job between singing and also doing the applause part.

It was funny to have a Festival of such importance without any public, not even representatives of the music industry, but this year's festival was, of course, a success, being followed by more than 20 million people.

It was probably much more successful for the home-audience: Italian people are forced to stay in their homes in the evening and had nothing to watch anyway, than the San Remo Festival.

The main hosts of the Festival were the TV presenter and showman Amadeus (Amedeo Umberto Rita Sebastiani) and Rosario Fiorello, a well-known talented Italian comic, actor, singer, and showman.

The 26 singers and groups who participated in the musical contest had to present 26 original songs, that they had never performed.

Among the best were the following Italian artists: Francesca Michielin and Fedez, Noemi, Arisa, Orietta Berti, Francesco Renga, Annalisa, Ermal Meta, Elodie, and others.

The winners were the rock-methal group Manneskin, with the song "Zitti e buoni" (Shut up and be good- in free translation).

"We dedicate this victory to that teacher who always told us to be quiet and good". This is the first comment of the Roman band on their social profiles after winning the 71st edition of the Sanremo Festival. (source: www.agi.it)

Their winning song was a full surprise, as the trending genre in Italy right now is trap and hip-hop singers.

The message of their song (" Siamo fuori di testa ma diversi da loro" - "we are crazy but different from them") is original, as the metal sound of their song. They say, among other things, that "people talk a lot about everything, they bla-bla without even knowing what they are saying", a message that I totally agree with.

The Second place was taken by the popular Francesca Michielin and Fedez, with their song "Chiamami per Nome" - "Call me by my name". The song is pleasant and there's no surprise they have been voted by the home public.

Both Fedez and Francesca Michielin are very good musicians, already multiple-award-winning with established musical careers.

Fedez is the husband of the famous Chiara Ferragni, known as probably the best or the most well-known influencer and businesswoman in the world, with more than 23 million followers on the socials of Italy only.

The third place in the musical contest was won by Ermal Meta, another best musician in Italy, who already won another San Remo edition in the past years. From Albanese origins, he is among the most appreciated singers-songwriters in Italy.

The most flavored things of the Festival were, of course, the guests, who exhibited several celebrities like the football player Zlatan Ibrahimović.

The other "most flavored" element of the Festival was the co-presenter Fiorello, who made everyone laugh in all of the 4 evenings of the Festival.

Zlatan Ibrahimović is a Swedish footballer of Bosnian-Croatian origin, who plays as a striker for the Italian team AC Milan. He is considered one of the greatest strikers in history, due to his exceptional performances and technique. (Wikipedia)

As San Remo was his festival and the Italian people are crazy about football, he did a motivational speech. "If you don't challenge yourself you cannot grow", the famous football player said, after having played more than 945 football games, according to his own testimony.

Another interesting presence in the San Remo Festival was the modern original Singer-Songwriter Achille Lauro, who presented very picturesque performances sustained by Gucci's artistic creators.

The famous world-wide singer Laura Pausini also sang her Golden Globe 2021 award-winning song "Io sì", featured in the most recent Sophia Loren's movie. Laura Pausini is probably the best-known Italian artist worldwide, and one of the highest-quality, too.

Another memorable presence at San Remo this year was Ornella Vanoni, 86 years old, one of the great ladies of Italian Music.

With songs like "Mi soon innamorata di te", "Un sorriso dentro al pianto" and others, her performance, together with the younger Francesco Gabbani, was an emotional tribute to the amazing tradition of Italian Music.
