Historic Arizona
An Arizona witness at Lake Havasu City recalled an encounter with a silent, cigar-shaped object hovering nearby at 11 a.m. on June 6, 1968, according to testimony from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC).
It was a hot day and a clear blue sky. The witness had just shot up a three-stage model rocket with a lizard payload and was walking through the desert trying to recover it. The incident date is approximate.
“I saw a flash of light come from behind me,” the reporting witness stated. “When I turned around, there was a chrome, cigar-shaped object with no lights or markings just hanging there right in front of me. It was shaped kind of like a tiny two-man submarine.”
The object was totally silent. The witness stared at it for about 10 seconds thinking maybe it was a balloon.
“Then it dipped to one side, north, and disappeared in an instant. It was too close to be an illusion. I remember saying to myself, ‘That was not of this earth.’ I didn’t tell anyone or even remember this until the late 90s. Now I remember it very clearly.”
The witness has never had anything like that happen ever again.
The report included no images, filed on October 17, 2003. Lake Havasu City is a city in Mohave County, AZ, population 57,144. Witness quotes were edited for clarity.
