A California witness at Halfmoon Bay reported watching a fast-moving, rectangle-shaped object in the evening sky at 6:48 p.m. on December 17, 2022, according to testimony from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC).
The witness was sitting on a bench at the Moss Beach Distillery at Halfmoon Bay when his girlfriend noticed a large rectangular shape that appeared out of nowhere moving very fast.
“I was amazed and took a photo,” the reporting witness stated.
The witness did not think he captured the object.
“But after looking at the picture, I did get it on film. Also looking at the picture, I noticed another shape I caught below it to the right. And there appears to be a round light and in the center, the circle is divided with light like you cut into eight pieces of pie.”
One image was included with the report, filed on December 18, 2022, and released for public viewing on December 22, 2022. The image is not very clear as to where these two objects are. I have posted two cropped versions of the image showing the items lit up in the darkness which may be what the witness is referring to.
I noticed that the Moss Beach Distillery is located at Moss Beach about six miles north of Halfmoon Bay. The witness might have given the wrong location unless the distillery opened another location.
Halfmoon Bay is a coastal community in San Mateo County, CA, population 11,795. Witness quotes were edited for clarity. Please report UFO activity to NUFORC or to the Mutual UFO Network (MUFON).

Historic California
A California witness at Mount Pinos recalled an encounter with a hovering, disc-shaped object over a camping area at 2 a.m. on June 6, 1951, according to testimony from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC).
The witness’s family went camping on Mount Pinos in the Los Padres National Forest. The family would go out on the road past the ski parking area where only a few hunters and campers went. There would usually be only six to eight campsites occupied.
The family arrived after 10 p.m. and noticed 40-50 people out in sleeping bags without tents. This is at 8,600 feet so it gets cold.
“Mom told me they set up their tent and went to sleep,” the reporting witness stated. “My brothers, three and four at the time, slept in the car with my mom’s aunt.
“About two a.m. my mom told me she heard a lot of people walking around and thought, that’s a lot of people going to the bathroom.”
In the morning, the tented normal campers were there but all the people in sleeping bags were gone. Mom asked her aunt how she had slept.
“Her aunt responded that she felt really safe last night as there were two helicopters hovering overhead for several hours and they were shining lights down. They also had multicolored lights showing and made no noise.”
Several days later, the witness’s Dad who worked in Hollywood was eating lunch, and two airline pilots who knew him asked him if he had gone camping on Mount Pinos on Saturday night.
“They had some acres in alfalfa up near Quail Lake and were out irrigating that night. They had seen two UFOs fly in from the east and then a few hours later fly back out to the east. These were Army Air Corps bomber pilots that were now working for a major airline and could not ask anybody in the industry or they would have their pilot tickets pulled.”
The report contained no images, filed on August 30, 2007. Witness quotes were edited for clarity.
