A North Carolina witness at Carolina Beach reported watching a dark, silent, unknown object, with multiple red lights along its underside at 8:20 p.m. on November 29, 2022, according to testimony from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC).
The witness did not see a shape.
“If it had a shape it was black,” the reporting witness stated. “I just saw eight-inch diameter, vivid red lights spaced about three feet apart along the bottom of something dark. From what I saw, it stretched from one side of the street above one home to the other side of the street above the house on the other side of the road and the lights were moving like watching a train go through an intersection except it was happening above houses.”
The witness said the object just steadily moved along.
“It really startled me as I realized what was happening.”
When the witness got to the intersection and looked down the intersecting street it was gone and out of sight.
“I drove around many blocks looking for it. Never saw it again.”
The witness lives just across the river from the Military Ocean Terminal Sunny Point where a lot of jets, trains, and military cargo planes fly over all the time.
“They make noise. This object did not. I have never seen anything like it. I do not know what kind of military training object this could have been. But I am reporting it because it was simply too close to the top of the homes on my street.”

Historic North Carolina
A North Carolina witness at Booneville recalled an encounter with a disc-shaped object “larger than a house” at 8 p.m. on June 15, 1962, according to testimony from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC).
The witness was with Dad and an Uncle on an evening fishing trip. The date is approximate. These are clear memories of that evening, with the witness even recalling the clothing worn. Apparently, the child sat on a previous campfire and Dad said that Mom would provide a spanking if any clothes were ruined.
The witness was sitting on the river bank with Dad to the right and Uncle to the left. The Uncle had a clear space on his left, but Dad had a large oak tree on his right. The tree was leaning out over the water. As a result of this, every so often, Dad’s line would snag in the overhanging tree branches.
“He would curse and reel the line back in,” the reporting witness stated. “Although there were trees to the sides of our spot, there were none directly overhead.”
Dad had just cast his line and it must have snagged the tree because something made him look up.
“I felt him go very still. He nudged me and said, ‘Hey, look up.’ I looked up and directly over our heads was a very large flying saucer. It looked as big as a house – bigger.”
The witness observed that the object was bigger than the relative size of the large tree beside Dad – even at the height it was at. And the object was situated not much higher than the tree top.
The sky was black and there was no moon that the witness recalls or could see.
“But I could see this object very clearly. Obviously, it was round. It had six round white lights on the bottom. Five surrounding one, all the same size, and the five rotated counter-clockwise. It was dead silent. It was a silvery pewter color. Not shiny, and as I recall with seams in the metal.”
The witness pointed out that the body was not perfectly smooth skin. This was something extraordinary for the witness and was not frightening.
“We watched it as it crossed the river. As it got about halfway across, I saw that it was a shallow dome, like a lens. But instead of a smooth top, it had a little bump on top. A true dome that sat in the center of the ship.”
The witness noticed that on the right upper side of the dome was a white light. This was the color of an incandescent light bulb in contrast to the lights on the bottom which looked more bluish and did not shine like a light.
The object crossed the river slowly and moved on a little further.
“Then it hovered for just a moment. Then it just dropped slowly into the woods. I looked at my father. He was still looking across the river. I guess they figured that they were far enough away because as I recall, my father and uncle kept right on fishing.”
The report contained no images, filed on April 30, 2004. Booneville is a town in Yadkin County, NC, population 1,222. Witness quotes were edited for clarity.
