Historic Mississippi
A Mississippi witness at Booneville recalled an encounter with a large craft hovering 100 feet off the ground at 8:30 p.m. on July 15, 1949, according to testimony from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC).
The witness with Mom and Dad had just returned home from a local movie theater when the object was first noticed about 75 yards behind their property and silently hovering at approximately 100 feet. The date is approximate.
“The craft displayed no definite shape, multicolored lights ran around the outside edge, therefore, it could have been spherical, ovoid, or saucer-shaped,” the reporting witness stated. “It did not move and no sound was audible.”
The three watched the object for about an hour but Dad eventfully sent the witness and Mom to bed. The next morning the witness ran outside to see if the object was still there but it was gone.
“Dad said he had watched it for three or four hours and finally came to bed. Dad was 28 and a radio repairman, mom was 24 and a factory worker, and I was about 7 years of age.”
