A North Carolina witness at Wilmington reported watching a slow-moving, cigar-shaped object moving at a low altitude at 5:30 p.m. on November 16, 2022, according to testimony from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC).
The witness was driving home in a truck and was eastbound along 17th Street approaching its intersection with South College Road when the object was first seen.
“I observed a silvery-white, cigar tube, rounded at ‘front,’ blunt at ‘tail’ that appeared to be lazily flying in a direct east-to-west direction,” the reporting witness stated. “It was moving very slowly, perhaps 10-20 mph.”
The witness noticed that the object had no visible stabilizers or wings. It had no visible propulsion system, propellers, or exhaust heat plume.
“The craft had no markings except for what I thought might be part of a tail fin which was black and white.”
The witness considered that it probably was not a tail fin because of its very low profile. The surface of the craft was smooth and there were no visible ribs. No landing gear was visible.
“In short, it simply looked like a slow-moving, silver-white, cigar tube.”
The object was moving very slowly through the air. The field in the background made it easier to see in profile. It held steady at a very low altitude and the witness observed no vertical or horizontal drift.
“I looked at it for as long as I could, perhaps five seconds, and then I looked back at the road, as this was rush hour. As soon as I could, perhaps seven seconds later, I looked back at the spot where I first observed the object, and it was gone. I looked to the right and left of the object, but it was gone like it vanished or something.”
There was a lone tree in the foreground situated where the object may have passed behind it, but it was moving so slowly, and was appreciably higher in the sky than the tree, that the witness would have been able to view part of the craft above tree line.
“As it was, I looked directly at the tree and no part of the craft was visible. As there was no point of reference to judge its distance from me, I cannot give an approximation of its length.”

Historic North Carolina
A North Carolina witness at Graham recalled an encounter with a triangle-shaped object flying at the tree top level at 10 p.m. on October 1, 1961, according to testimony from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC).
The witness had just gotten out of his vehicle and was walking toward his front door when the object was first seen.
“I glanced up to the sky and was surprised to see three large circles of white light in a triangular pattern sailing tree-top level over some trees in my sideyard,” the reporting witness stated.
The witness stepped out into the yard for a better view and did not feel fearful since the object was flying away in a southwest-to-northeast direction at approximately 35-40 mph.
“The light was a flat type with no projection. Perhaps the strangest thing I noticed, in addition to the whole scenario, was the absence of any sound. I didn't see any structure around the lights but they were in a triangular or delta pattern.”
The witness watched the object until it disappeared and then went inside to call a boyfriend who lived one to two miles away in the direction that the UFO was traveling.
“He looked out but saw nothing. For a day or two, I watched the newspaper for any other reported sightings, but saw none.”
No images were included in the report, filed on May 1, 2022. Graham is a city in Alamance County, NC, population 17,153. Witness quotes were edited for clarity.
