A New York witness at Napanoch reported watching a diamond-shaped object moving under 200 feet off the ground over a nearby construction site at about 8:15 p.m. on March 22, 2022, according to testimony from the National UFO Reporting Center (NUFORC).
“Was driving when we saw a craft in the sky flying very low roughly 100-200 feet above the ground,” the reporting witness stated. “It moved incredibly slowly over to a new construction site where they are clearing and leveling land.”
The witness said the craft then came to a dead stopped and hovered for roughly two minutes.
“It then moved up and down over the construction site in a linear pattern again no noise present.”
The witness drove away but quickly realized the object was following.
“We then drove off and it processed to tail the car incredibly slowly for roughly 20 seconds.
It then, without turning, took off in the opposite direction at incredible speeds.
“The craft appeared as a cross from a distance but once the craft was hovering above you could see it was almost a diamond shape with some type of either tail or nose. It has blue, red, and piercing white strobing lights that were difficult to look at and did not resemble any type of aircraft lights we had ever seen before.
"My main takeaways are: No sound, strobing lights, cross-like shape with barely visible diamond-shaped wings, hovered with no movement, the speed varied from as slow as walking speed to incredibly fast, and followed us one way but flew off the opposite direction without turning.”
New York Cases
New York was rated sixth place in total U.S. UFO sightings for October 2022 with 24 cases filed, according to the MUFON November 2022 newsletter. Florida and California topped the list at 65 cases each.
There were 14 diamond-shaped cases reported nationally in October 2022.
The following similar case of a diamond-shaped object reported in New York State is from my book, UFO Cases of Interest: 2019 Edition.
NY witness describes hovering diamond-shaped UFO
A New York witness at Woodstock reported watching a silent, diamond-shaped object, according to testimony in MUFON Case 95178.
The witness was driving home from work at about 4 a.m. on March 10, 2018.
“I witnessed the object in the sky,” the witness stated. “I stopped my vehicle and turned off all the lights, rolled my window down, and watched it fly across the sky with Overlook Mountain to the north and it flew from west to east direction and made no sound.
“It was diamond-shaped, headlights at each point. Made no sound whatsoever and the lights blinked regularly like an airplane. The photo shows a sketch of what I saw and the exact direction I was looking with the field in the foreground and over the mountain in the background.”
New York MUFON Chief Investigator Christopher DePerno closed this case as an Unknown Aerial Vehicle.
“The witness said the object was approximately 400 feet away from him and was approximately 300 feet or higher off the ground,” DePerno wrote in his report.“The elevation was estimated to be about 70 degrees. The witness said that this object was hovering, with its lighting continuing to pulsate at regular intervals. The object then moved from its northwest location and slowly traveled northeast, gaining altitude, and then disappeared. At the time of the sighting, nothing else was seen in the air.
“The witness said the sky was clear and nothing was blocking his view, as it rose towards the mountains. The witness said he continued driving as he was observing the object until it disappeared. The duration of the event was approximately five minutes. The witness arrived home and the object was gone. The witness sent a picture of the scene and a hand-sketched drawing of the event, showing the object and where it was. Both the drawing and the picture are part of the investigation.
“The witness is the sole individual to this event. The witness, who is educated, can commutate well describing this event consistently. There are no commercial airports or military bases in the general vicinity that would give a reasonable explanation for this event. The witness stated that the weather was clear and the object being viewed stationary, at around a distance of 400 feet away.
“Also having an estimated altitude of 300 feet, with no sound. This would most likely rule out a commercial plane or military flight. The witness was very consistent that this was a diamond-shaped object. The witness was driving a Toyota at the time of the event and nothing unusual happened to the vehicle.
“Based on the witness interview, pending further information on this event, I would say the witness is credible.”
Woodstock is a town in Ulster County, New York, population 5,884.
