In August 2022, Sony collaborated with Discord as a concrete form of their dedication to providing the best service with the aim of bringing their various features to their console. It looks like they are showing more of their work for this feature.
Of course, with Discord as one of the best communication platforms at the moment, Sony is updating the PS5 New Firmware and several regions are appointed to carry out further tests regarding their firmware which will also be supported by this communication software.
Some of these regions will receive the New Firmware Beta Test consisting of the United States, Canada, Japan, United Kingdom, Germany and France. Players who will try it will receive an invitation to this test can try Discord's Voice Chat feature, which players have been waiting for all this time.
In simple terms, players can already use the voice chat feature by simply connecting their PSN account with their Discord account, which can later be followed by looking at the feature on the player's desktop and mobile application. Players can check the 'Transfer to PlayStation' button on Discord Desktop and 'Join on PlayStation' on Discord Mobile.
It's just that, it's a shame when it's going to be used it turns out that players still need their PC or mobile application to access it. This makes it necessary to have further upgrades for this final version of the firmware, knowing this feature is not fully present on the console itself.
Like a beta test in general, maybe there are some features that will not continue in the final result of this firmware. Some other support, such as the presence of a Refresh Rate variation with 1440p resolution, activation of Game Capture with voice commands (for the United States and Great Britain regions only) and support for PS4 to PS5 Migration Data, has made some players anxious about the final version of this firmware.
