It's Free to Visit One of the Best Preserved Ghost Towns Anywhere

Just a short drive from the town of Aspen, Colorado, the Independence Ghost Town is a great way to spend an hour exploring the history of the area! Abandoned around the early 1900s, the ghost town used to be prosperous gold mining town with a population of around 1,500 people. Currently managed by the Aspen Historical Society, they have several other great historical sites in the area to explore when you are in Aspen, Colorado.
