Capturing the Geminid Meteor Shower and "Christmas" Comet Leonard From a Dark Sky Park

On December 12th, the day Comet Leonard was closest to Earth, we shot it on its approach. This voyage took the comet about 80,000 years as it made its orbit around the Sun and will probably never return again due to its orbital path. We also shot the Geminid Meteor Shower while at Copper Breaks State Park, Texas and had fun with more phone astrophotography. We are a family of hikers based in Dallas that love to travel frequently in our RV. We are on the road as often as possible and enjoy discovering alpine lakes, slot canyons, natural arches, and other interesting landforms all over the U.S. and sharing our adventures with everyone. When we explore our state of Texas, we always try discovering new local places the whole family will enjoy. If you like hiking, camping, and photography related content, please follow us!
