Lathrop State Park in Southern Colorado is a great place to see the stars and a pretty good place for seeing the Milky Way at night. We spent two nights of our  summer trip in this Bortle 3 location enjoying an epic stargazing experience. We discovered a secret spot behind our campsite with some interesting terrain, so we decided to set up the camera and enjoy it. The seclusion helped us avoid the light pollution coming from nearby RVers and their ground lights as we were shooting some astrophotography.

The darkest skies of Oklahoma can be found at the tip of the panhandle at Black Mesa State Park. We drove there as the first leg of our summer trip to sit out and stargaze while also shooting a little landscape astrophotography. This uncrowded beach in Broward County near Hollywood and Ft. Lauderdale is an amazing place to escape it all. Dr. Von D. Mizell Eula - Johnson State Park was formerly known as John U. Lloyd State Park. It is one of the few natural beaches left in South Florida away from development and skyscrapers.

We sat out at Possum Kingdom State Park and photographed an amazing thunderstorm over the lake. The amount of lightning was pretty epic.
