Colorado, USA - The White House has announced its plan to vaccinate children ages 5-11, awaiting approval of the vaccine. The CDPHE said they are planning to authorize the mentioned age group, and they continue to collect pre-orders for vaccines from registered providers.

The state has an initial vaccine pre-order placed with CDC, and it will be up to local doctors, pharmacies, and clinics to handle the distribution to children. Following the US-FDA approval and CDC recommendations, vaccines are accessible at the same places where the vaccines are currently being administered.

These places include local public health clinics, doctor's offices, school health clinics, pharmacies, community vaccination events, and many more. According to the Biden administration, the use of the Pfizer vaccine is expected to be authorized. Pfizer applied for emergency use from the FDA of the vaccine for children aged between 5-11, and once the vaccine is approved, the CDC will have the final say.

Dr. Campbell of the Denver West Pediatrics, the office is already preparing for the influx and the necessary special storage for the pediatric vaccines. The vaccines from Pfizer created for kids have smaller doses and lower volume than the 12+ vaccine. And according to CDPHE, to prevent mistakes and mixed-up, the pediatric dose has different packaging, separate shipping, and distribution processes.

What Do Parents Say About This?

With this plan, more parents are expressing their interest in having their kids vaccinated and are now starting to call asking for schedules and vaccination appointments, said Dr. James Campbell. However, they can not confirm yet because they do not yet have the exact date of vaccination roll-out.

While there are many eager parents to have their kids vaccinated, many do not plan to vaccinate their kids, at least for now. Other groups of parents also come with so many questions and uncertainty. Parents need assurance for the safety of their kids once vaccinated.
