Sweet and Spicy Baked Firecracker Chicken

Ridley's Wreckage

This is a really easy and delicious sweet and spicy baked chicken. Not only is this simple to create and full of flavor, but it also has a homemade sweet, spicy, and tangy firecracker sauce! This firecracker sauce has a simple combination of hot or chili sauce, brown sugar or honey, apple cider vinegar, and garlic generously slathered over some boneless and skinless chicken breasts.

I like to first brown my chicken in a skillet to add some flavor and get some color on it, then add it to the oven slathered in firecracker sauce to bake. Bast your chicken in the sauce several times during cooking. This baked firecracker chicken is delicious alone, added to a roll for a delicous chicken sandwhich, or paired with rice, pasta, or quinoa.

  • Preheat your oven to 400 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Using a medium-sized sauce pan, add your hot sauce, brown sugar (or honey), soy sauce, apple cider vinegar, minced garlic, and 2 pinches of chili pepper flakes. Heat on medium-low until the sugar has completely melted into the sauce, whisking to combine.
  • In a large oven-safe skillet (such as a cast iron) over medium-high heat, add your oil so it's hot. Season your chicken with salt and pepper and brown it on both sides (3-5 minutes per side).
  • Add your chicken to your preheated oven and cook for another 10-15 minutes (making sure that the interior of your chicken registers 165 degrees). Generously bast your chicken breasts every 5 minutes until done.
  • Add your remaining sauce over your breasts or use it to dip your chicken.

Enjoy, friends! 🧨
