  • 1 large can of pumpkin puree (30-ounce)
  • 16-ounce can of evaporated milk
  • 1/2 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1/2 tsp. ground cloves
  • 1 C. granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 2 tsp. ground cinnamon
  • 1 package of yellow cake mix (15.25 boxes)
  • 3/4 C. roughly chopped walnuts (or pecans)
  • 1 1/2 sticks of butter (3/4 C.)


  • Warm your oven to 350°F. Grease and flour a 9 x 13-inch baking pan.
  • Using a stand mixer or hand mixer, add in your pumpkin, evaporated milk, granulated sugar, large eggs, and seasonings (ginger, cloves, and cinnamon) in a large bowl.
  • Pour your pumpkin mixture into your greased and floured baking dish.

  • Evenly sprinkle your yellow cake mix over the top. Then evenly toss your chopped walnuts or pecans over the top.

  • Cover the top of your yellow cake mix with butter. Cut your butter and cover the entire top.

  • Place your baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 55–60 minutes. When done, remove from the oven and serve warm with whipped topping or vanilla ice cream.
