To be honest, I didn't think I was going to love this as much as I did! It's the perfect combination of sweet tart cranberries and spicy jalapeño with a delicious whipped cream cheese to balance all the flavors out.

This is the must-have appetizer this holiday season. It's going to wow your friends and family! It's one of the few things I've made that gets repeated requests for the recipe!

Pro Tips:

  • Don't forget to refrigerate overnight and then strain your cranberries. Do this before putting them on your cream cheese. If you don't, your appetizer will be runny. Nobody wants a runny appetizer!
  • Want spicier? Add another jalapeño; not into spice cut it down to one jalapeño.

Prep Time: 20 minutes; Resting Time: 12 hours; Total Time: 20 minutes

Tart cranberries, spicy jalapeño’s, sweet sugar, and cool cream cheese combine to make a delectable holiday appetizer that will have your friends and familybegging for more!

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag of fresh, uncooked cranberries (12-ounce bag)
  • 1/3 C. green onions finely sliced
  • 2 fresh jalapeño peppers (deseeded and membrane removed)
  • 1-2 tablespoons of fresh cilantro (optional)
  • 1/2 to 1 C. of granulated sugar (I used 3/4 C.)
  • 1 tablespoon of freshly squeezed lemon juice
  • 2 pinches of kosher salt
  • 2 blocks of cream cheese (16 ounces)

Instructions:

  1. Chop up your cranberries. I used a food chopper (be careful if you use a food processor; it can chop too fine and liquify your berries).
  2. Finely dice into small pieces your jalapeño peppers, green onions, and cilantro.
  3. Grab a medium-sized bowl and toss in your chopped cranberries, green onions, fresh cilantro, and jalapeños.
  4. Sprinkle your granulated sugar over the top, and add your lemon juice and salt. Stir to combine.
  5. Place your bowl of cranberries in the refrigerator overnight. Cover it with plastic wrap.

The Next Day

  1. Remove your cranberry/jalapeño mixture from the fridge and stir. Using a colander with small holes, strain out all the liquid.
  2. Add your two blocks of softened cream cheese, and with a hand mixer, whip until light and smooth. In a 9 x 9 dish or pie plate, spread your cream cheese over the bottom.
  3. Add your cranberry mixture over the whipped cream cheese and place it in the fridge until ready to serve.
  4. Best served with crackers (I love buttery Ritz for this).

Enjoy Friends! ❤️
