I’ll never forget the first time I had bang-bang sauce. It was when I was pregnant with my first child, and I had the worst cravings for fried shrimp. So as a treat for our anniversary (money was tight), my spouse took me out to dinner at the Bonefish Grill. I ordered the bang bang shrimp from the starters page; the craving for fried shrimp had to be fulfilled. Little did I know that it wasn’t the shrimp that would leave me wanting more, but the damn sauce that came with it.
Oh my... The bang-bang sauce was to die for. I literally licked the appetizer bowl clean of bang bang sauce. I’m shocked that I wasn’t divorced after that embarrassing exhibition of behavior, but I couldn’t help it. You can’t deny a pregnant girl, right? My spouse asked the waiter for another bowl of sauce for me; that‘s true love right there. I dipped, slathered, drizzled, and devoured both of our meals while bang bang sauce dripped down my arms. It was beyond delicious, and ever since that day, it has been a staple in my fridge.
I don’t just use it on seafood; but fish tacos with this sauce is out of this world!. I use it as a French fry, onion ring, and tater tot dip. I use it slathered all over chicken strips and drizzled on my baked potatoes and roasted cauliflower or Brussels sprouts. I dip my egg rolls in it, and I‘ve even used it on hot dogs in place of ketchup and mustard. I love the hit of spice, and the flavor complements everything!
This sauce is so easy to make; it uses pantry-friendly ingredients, and it’s something that is always found in my fridge.
Prep Time: 5 minutes; Total Time: 5 minutes
Ingredients:
- 1 cup mayonnaise (you could also substitute Greek yogurt in place of the mayo or do a 1/2 mayo-1/2 yogurt mixture)
- 0.5 cup sweet chili sauce
- 2-4 Tablespoons Sriracha (depending on how spicy you like it)
- 2 teaspoons of rice wine vinegar
Directions:
- Add your mayonnaise, chili sauce, sriracha, and rice vinegar to a pint-sized mason jar (or small, airtight bowl). Combine well. Start off slow with the sriracha and taste. If you want it a bit spicier, then add some more—1/2 tsp at a time.
- Dip, spread, and slather on top of everything!
- Enjoy Friends! ❤️
Thanks to the addition of the vinegar, this sauce will last for about a month when stored in an airtight container. So go ahead and make a double batch; there is plenty of space in your fridge for it!
