It’s January, the winter blues are getting to us all, the gloomy days, the yucky, muddy, snow covered walkways, the lack of sunshine and the frigid cold. Everyone could use a little pick me up going into February, us New Yorkers know that winter is far from over and sometimes you just need to feel like you’ve traveled to a tropical paradise with an adventure around every corner. Everyone needs a little sunshine in their lives, especially in the dead of winter.
Monticello's Kartrite Resort and Indoor Waterpark is a relatively recent development. It debuted in 2019, just before the epidemic. Thankfully this resort was able to overcome the COVID setback and is now attracting a ton of happy families and tourists from all over the state, country, and world. If your looking for indoor and outdoor activities to beat the winter blues, look no further, this is a place you’ll want to check out!
The Kartrite's rooms are inviting and fashionable, making them perfect places to unwind with friends and family. They are available in a range of sizes, including king and double queen rooms and three-bedroom suites. Passes to the waterpark are provided in every accommodation. Read that again.... There are multiple places to grab an adult beverage and to eat on site, including and amazing coffee and breakfast shop, a huge buffet, poolside grill and pizza, and a sit down upper end restaurant. There is no lack of food or choices, you won’t go hungry or thirsty and everything is mouthwatering good! Did I mention the candy shop? It’s definitely a place you want to stop in, right after you grab your afternoon coffee! A girl’s gotta keep up her energy!
Lets get to the main attaction here... the waterpark, the glorious, phenomenal waterpark. Fun Fact: Katrina has the largest indoor waterpark in New York. This water park is going to keep you and your family entertained for hours, heck days if your kids are anything like mine. It’s always a balmy 84 degrees inside, which is a heatwave to New York temperatures right now. It’s perfect for navigating down any of the 4 big water slides (The Krakken, Nor'easter, Jiggerty-Jaggerty, and Time Warp). Got younger tater-tots no worries, this water park also caters to them. There’s Later Gator Crossing, Kartrite Island and Puddle Ducks.
Did I mention the Lazy River? No? Well after you have been down all the slides and are ready to chill and relax for a bit you have got to check out the Lazy River. You can literally spend the rest of your day just relaxing and floating down the river. Sounds down right magical doesn’t it?
If by some chance your waterlogged and looking for some other indoor activities that don’t require a bathing suit, you need to stop by the high ropes course, laser tag or the bowling alley. They even have an escape room that you can participate in. Of course if you have gamers in your life, then the arcades will be right up your alley.
Are you the outdoorsy type, you know the kind of person that takes every opportunity to enjoy Mother Nature and just breath in the air. No worries, there are fabulous hiking trails (six miles worth!), you can even rent snow shoes for the ultimate winter experience. Afterwards you can relax next to the gorgeous outdoor fire pits with a cocktail.
How lucky are we, us New Yorkers, to have this resort in our state. Its such a fun place for a weekend getaway, a place to beat the winter blues, to make lasting family memories or a couples vacation full of good food, drinks, fun activities and laughs.
