Children like to play house with their friends and/or other family members. They have all kinds of cute ideas of what it means to be married, but one toddler trumps them all.
In a video the two-year old boy is seen having a serious tête-à-tête with his mum, which starts off with him telling her, “I want you to be married.” Mum explains she is already married, to his dad.
He then chips in, “I wanna be married too sometime.”
Be prepared for cuteness overload. He wants to be married to his mum, and his daddy and to Tante! It’s not clear who Tante is (an aunt perhaps?) but she needs to know this little man loves her.
The toddler’s mum then asks him what he thinks it means to be married. “We play outside!”
What a fantastic reason. Maybe adults could learn from this little one. Wouldn’t married life be a lot more enjoyable and fun if couples spent more time playing outside than being chained to their electronic devices?
This two year old has concluded that being married means spending time with the people you love and cherish, as well as doing fun things with them — like playing outside.
It is always fascinating to hear what kids think about marriage. One six year old Eric said, “Marriage is when you get to keep your girl and don’t have to give her back to her parents!”
Children often model their parents’ behavior without them being aware. That’s why it’s important to be a good role model for them as it can shape their future and their view of what constitutes a good relationship.
What have you heard a toddler say that made you smile?
