A green lawn is one of the first things people see when they pull up to your house. Green turf can help improve the curb appeal of your home and the neighbourhood.

The cost of watering a lawn can be significantly higher during the summer months, making it impossible for homeowners to maintain their lawns without using excessive amounts of water. When the dry season arrives, watching your lawn turn brown can be a heartbreaking experience.

Now some ingenious Americans have found a way to keep the American dream of the perfect turf alive. They are resorting to painting their lawns green, making their homes look more attractive and inviting.

Green lawns also make a home more appealing to potential buyers or renters. Some communities even require homeowners to maintain green lawns as part of their laws.

The Wall Street Journal reports that “the niche business of painting drab grass is growing like weeds, as people try to save money and water.”

According to Lawnlove, lawn painting originated on Hollywood movie sets in the 1950s. The practice soon found its way across industry lines and became popular with golf courses in the southern parts of the country.

Over time, the practice has become more widespread in the golf and athletic industries and has migrated over to the residential market, as well.

Whilst painting a lawn green can help to save water and keep it looking its best, there are some drawbacks. For example, the paint may not last very long and may need to be reapplied regularly. Additionally, the paint may not be safe for children or pets to play on.

If you are looking for a way to save water, improve the appearance of your lawn, and make your home more attractive, then painting your lawn green may be a good option for you.
