Of all Indianapolis's suburbs, Greenwood, almost indisputably, has the most "small town" feel. The area is still bordered by farmland, and it feels like you're miles from civilization just a few minutes out of town (even though you're actually mere miles from I-65).
Main Street is home to the usual suspects -- legal offices, a hardware store, and hair salons -- but the area has also recently become a hotspot for hipster-approved breweries and stylish restaurants like Revery.
If you squint, you could almost be in the East Village instead of central Indiana.
Adding to Greenwood's cool factor is the Indy area's newest coffee shop, Fresh Pots Coffee Bar. We checked it out on Saturday, and it's the perfect spot to spend a lazy weekend morning.
The gallery wall [above] was my favorite feature. There are few things I love more than chunky vintage frames, and Fresh Pots has them in droves.
But now for the really important thing -- the drinks. Fresh Pots has an extensive menu for the entire family. I had a Chai Latte (perfectly crafted!) while both of my daughters had hot chocolate. My best friend, who almost always joins us on our weekend excursions, loved the Toasted Marshmallow Latte.
In addition to approximately two-dozen syrup options, Fresh Pots serves classic options like Caffè Americanos and Flat Whites. There are also delicious pastries available for sale. The bagels, as you'll see below, are Ella-approved.
Fresh Pots is one of those unique locations that perfectly combines family-friendly with cooler-than-cool.
Eclectic furniture and vintage artwork is coupled with cozy seating areas and games for kids to enjoy while their parents actually get five minutes to enjoy a cup of gourmet coffee.
Speaking of gourmet coffee, Fresh Pots has plenty of merchandise for sale, including $15 bags of coffee beans like the Fresh Pots Morning Brew and cheeky "Let's Make Out" mugs [below].
You'll also find Fresh Pots t-shirts displayed on an antique hutch at the back of the shop.
Fresh Pots just might be one of my new favorite spots in the Indy area.
The vibe immediately invites you to spend hours curled up with a good book -- probably Farewell to Arms for the millionth time for me -- while sipping on a delicious drink.
One quick note: There's no exterior sign for Fresh Pots (which I actually love), so just look for the black storefront and the script "Open" sign to know you're in the right place!
Have you visited Indy's coolest new coffee spot yet?
