The Cordele Police Department announced an arrest on Sunday in connection with a shooting incident involving a man and his uncle.
According to a Facebook post by the department, an officer was hailed while patrolling the Enmark area of N. 7th Street. The victim, a 61-year-old man, managed to communicate to the officers that his nephew was responsible for shooting him. The victim stated that a verbal argument had escalated, leading to the shooting.
Prompt emergency first aid was administered to the victim, who was then transported by EMS for further medical attention. Shortly after, the suspect, Lee Brown, 41, of Cordele, called emergency services himself to confess his involvement as the shooter. He also provided his address.
Officers promptly responded to Brown's location in the 400 block of W. 8th Avenue and apprehended him without any resistance after he confirmed his identity as the shooter.
Following the necessary processing, Brown was taken to the Crisp County LEC. Charges are pending and the investigation is ongoing under the supervision of the Cordele Police Department.
