Texans were never realistic about Watson’s trade value
The DeShaun Watson situation is more complicated than a player just wanting out of his current team. Normally if a player like Watson becomes available, most General Managers and owners are willing to give up almost anything to secure one of the top players at the most important position in sports. However, Watson’s legal troubles struck a wrench in a lot of the negotiations, or the team's general interests. Let’s also not forget that nine quarterbacks have been selected in the first round of the last two Drafts, and 19 of the 32 teams have their franchise quarterback and shouldn’t be interested in trading for Watson. That narrows the market, and asks the question, did the Texans make the right decision sticking to their high asking price?
