I don't write about chain stores very often. I'm not one of those people who is obsessed with Bath & Body Works, either. However, I wanted to see if they sold White Barn one-wick candles and was pleasantly surprised by the gigantic selection in Crestview Hills.
As someone who can't stand the smell of Bath & Body Works products anymore due to chronic overuse during childhood, I wasn't interested in any lotions or personal care products they offered. I don't like how runny their lotions are, and I've moved on to other lotion shops. I went here strictly for the candles. How is Bath & Body Works related to White Barn, you ask?
The White Barn Shop - Candles
The reason I wanted to write this article is because of White Barn. Many people have heard of The White Barn Shop and assume like I originally did, that it is a standalone store. Actually, White Barn is a Bath & Body Works line. These products are far superior to other Bath & Body Works products, and I realized this after being gifted a candle.
My boyfriend gave me a 3-wick, Frosted Sugar Cookie candle from White Barn for my birthday. As a Yankee Candle person, I was not expecting to enjoy this candle, but it is amazing. It smells authentic, the packaging is beautiful, and it burns evenly for 25-45 hours as described. I think I've burned it for about 35 hours at this point, and I've still got a little ways to go. I digress - now that I knew Bath & Body Works had a decent candle range, I wanted to check the store out.
I'm not entirely sure why the candles were under the "Room Sprays" sign, but this is where the best deal on candles was. You could get two, one-wick candles that burned for 25-45 hours for $20. Although I do like the 3-wick candles because they smell stronger, they also burn for the same amount of time as one, one-wick candle and cost $25 each. I'd rather have a fainter smell for twice as long and $5 cheaper.
As my boyfriend and I both enjoy vanilla-scented products, we went for these two candles: Cinnamon Spiced Vanilla and Pink Lilac & Vanilla. The Cinnamon Spiced Vanilla smells like freshly baked cinnamon rolls when lit, and the Pink Lilac & Vanilla one is a light floral. It is very faintly floral and springy, which is great if you live with someone who isn't a huge floral scent person.
Final thoughts
Besides in New York City, I've never been to such a crowded Bath & Body Works store with so many options from their White Barn Line. The candles must be popular in this neck of the woods compared to other towns. If you enjoy shopping from a large selection of affordable candles and/or like very liquidy lotion, Bath and Body Works is a great place to visit and buy gifts. As a Yankee Candle Sun-Dried Apricot aficionado, I may have been converted to a White Barn vanilla candle person. For the price, you've got to give their candles a try if you are a candle person.
