One of my all time favorite holidays is Halloween - and as it’s now past mid October, we are fast approaching Halloween and I am so excited for it! I know while living in the city, it’s definitely kind of sad not being able to do normal fall and Halloween activities, like going to the pumpkin patch, apple picking, giving out candy to trick or treating kids dressed in cute costumes!
However, New York City also offers tons of other fun things to do during the Halloween season to make it feel just as fun and festive as if you were living anywhere else! So here’s tons of fun Halloween/fall inspired activities that you can do right here in NYC that will make you feel all the fall vibes!
The Village Halloween Parade
First up is one of the most fun Halloween activities - a parade! I know you don’t typically see parades for Halloween, but if there’s anything New York City knows it’s a fun parade! The village parade is such a fun excuse to get dressed up, or if that’s not your thing, then you can just go and see everyone else’s costumes too. But honestly there’s nothing better to get you in the Halloween spirit than a parade full of zombies, ghosts, and more!
The Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze
And since there aren’t too many pumpkin patches in the city, you definitely need to stop by the Great Jack O’Lantern Blaze located in the Hudson Valley - just outside of the city! This is such a cool experience with tons of jack o’lanterns to view! They are all intricately carved and so unique! It’s definitely a fun Halloween activity! Especially if you didn’t get the chance to carve your own pumpkin.
Pumpkin Arch at Pier 17
And if you are anything like me and always looking for a perfect photo opportunity - the pumpkin arch at Pier 17 is just for you! This is such a beautiful fall display perfect for a great fall inspired photoshoot!
Greenwich Village Ghost Tour
Next, is the Greenwich Village Ghost Tour! I’ve done several ghost tours before, and they are always so much fun - even if I do get nightmares from them! I love hearing about the history (and the supernatural stories) of new locations - so this is the perfect way to learn some spooky new facts about a favorite New York City neighborhood.
Upper East Side Haunted House Decorations
And last but not least the haunted house decorations on the Upper East Side. Now if you don’t know, I live on the Upper East Side, and in the past week or so as I’ve been walking around the neighborhood, I’ve seen so many fun and spooky Halloween decorations on apartment buildings, store fronts and more! There’s nothing to get you in the Halloween spirit like taking a walk down the street and seeing your neighbor’s spooky decorations!
So, if you are in the New York City area for this Halloween I hope that you have fun trying out some of these activities! I know I will certainly be doing all of these to get myself in the Halloween mood this year!
