SCDHHS Offers Medicaid Provider Training Opportunities June-August 2023

Columbia, South Carolina - The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) regularly offers free trainings to prospective and enrolled Healthy Connections Medicaid providers. Many of these trainings are available virtually. Here's the latest information about the upcoming Healthy Connections Medicaid eLearning trainings for summer 2023.

Medicaid eLearning Provider Workshops

These recurring virtual workshops cover a variety of topics including training on Medicaid basics, how to submit claims using the web-based tool and third-party liability (TPL). To register for a workshop, please visit the Medicaid eLearning site, www.medicaidelearning.com, or call (888) 289-0709 and select option 1. Additional training resources for providers are also available online through the Medicaid eLearning site.

Here is the summer schedule for the free provider workshops:

Medicaid Basics

  • June 8, 2023, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • July 11, 2023, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Aug. 9, 2023, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

This course provides a basic overview of the South Carolina Healthy Connections Medicaid program. The training addresses general policies and topics such as eligibility, claim filing options, the remittance package, TPL and claim-level adjustments.

Comprehensive Web Tool

  • June 14, 2023, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • July 20, 2023, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.
  • Aug. 15, 2023, 10 a.m.-3 p.m.

This workshop explores all the available features on the South Carolina Healthy Connections Medicaid web-based claims submission tool. The training navigates claim entry and submission as well as how to check eligibility, claim status and e-remits through the online tool.

Overview of Claim-level Adjustments and TPL

  • June 20, 2023, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • July 26, 2023, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.
  • Aug. 24, 2023, 10 a.m.-4 p.m.

This workshop examines TPL reporting responsibilities, refund processes, claim adjudication, edit resolutions and information on other resources. Providers will also learn the detail-level process that gives professional providers the ability to submit claim-level adjustments directly to South Carolina Healthy Connections Medicaid.

Meet Elephant and Piggie at SC State Museum Accessibility Morning

Columbia, South Carolina - The South Carolina State Museum is hosting its monthly Accesibility Morning on September 9, 2023, from 9 am -11 am. Meet Elephant and Piggie during the storytime meet and greet. This inclusive event provides FREE general admission to guests who are neurodiverse, autistic, or have other disabilities so they can experience the museum’s exhibitions at their own pace and enjoy other special activities. ASL Interpretation will be provided by the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind. The museum also has several other accessibility tools available - just ask an educator upon your arrival! Guests are encouraged to pre-register. The FREE 9:45 am show tickets can only be reserved on-site on the day of the event. Guests are welcome to simply come and enjoy the museum if they'd like. This event is for all ages.

SCDNR Hosting Free Surf Fishing Clinic for Anglers with Mobility Impairments at Edisto Beach State Park

Edisto, South Carolina - The South Carolina Department of Natural Resources Fishing Outreach Program is offering a saltwater fishing clinic at Edisto Beach State Park. The Clinic will teach participants how to tie knots, rig the fishing rod, how to cast, what bait to use, and what fish can be caught on the beach! After the instructional part of the clinic, anglers get a chance to apply these newly learned skills by surf fishing! The Edisto Beach Volunteer Fire Department has graciously allowed the use their beach wheelchairs for this surf fishing clinic.

Arc of South Carolina Wings For All is Landing at GSP Airport

Greenville-Spartanburg, South Carolina - The Arc of South Carolina, Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport, The Arc of the Low Country, Delta Air Lines and Enterprise Holdings will co-host Wings for All on Saturday, September 23, 2023. The Wings program is a chance for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) and their families to rehearse the airport experience and board an airplane, many for the first time. The Arc founded Wings for All in 2014. The goal was to alleviate the stress of air travel with practice and to educate airport and airline personnel, and TSA on ways to improve the experience for passengers of all ages with intellectual and developmental disabilities. SCDHHS Awards Behavioral Health Crisis Stabilization Grants to 13 South Carolina Hospitals

Columbia, South Carolina – The South Carolina Department of Health and Human Services (SCDHHS) announced it has awarded 13 South Carolina hospitals a total of $45.5 million to build specialized hospital-based emergency department units dedicated to behavioral health crises. Columbia, South Carolina - The South Carolina Assistive Technology Program (SCATP) in partnership with the South Carolina State Department of Education (SCDE) is hosting free training for all school district educators and staff on July 18-19, 2023, from 9 a.m.- 4 p.m. at South Carolina Educational Television Station,1041 George Rogers Boulevard, Columbia, SC 29201.
