NEW ORLEANS, LA - On August 16, the Modified Phase Three of COVID-19 Guidelines in New Orleans will be in full effect. Indoor mask mandate will also be reinstated and people must have proof of vaccine or a negative test to participate in some activities.

Over 74 percent of adults in New Orleans have been fully vaccinated and the city continues to meet all public health milestones. But among all New Orleanians, only a little over 52 percent have been fully vaccinated and several census tracts in New Orleans have vaccination rates under 50 percent. Thus, the New Orleans Health Department has reinstated restrictions on certain activities which will be in full effect on August 16.

Some of the restrictions are:

1. Mask requirement

- Regardless of vaccination, everyone must wear masks indoors when they are with people not from their household

- Outdoor gatherings with over 500 people if total attendance exceeds 50 percent of the venue's capacity.

2. Vaccines requirement

Everyone, including children 12 years and older, must have proof of a negative PCR test within the last 72 hours or have received at least one dose of vaccine to access:

- Indoor dining establishments such as restaurants, bars, breweries, etc.

- Indoor fitness facilities such as gyms and other indoor group fitness centers.

- Indoor entertainment and performance spaces such as stadiums, music or concert halls, ballrooms, bowling alleys, arcades, casinos, indoor amusement facilities, and others.

- Large outdoor events with over 500 people if the total attendance exceeds 50 percent of the venue's capacity.

3. Gathering guidelines

- Indoor gatherings will require masks, proof of negative PCR tests, and vaccination

- Outdoor gatherings with over 500 people but total attendance is less than 50 percent will require masks.

- Outdoor gatherings with over 500 people and exceeds 50 percent of the venue's capacity will require masks, proof of negative PCR tests, and vaccination.
