NEW ORLEANS, LA — The United States Attorney's Office for the Eastern District of Louisiana announced today that Martha Buezo Martinez, 51, of Kenner, LA, was sentenced to four-year probation by the Honorable Susie Morgan.

Martinez was convicted for failing to account for and pay over employment taxes to the Internal Revenue Service, which violated Title 26 of the United States Code, Section 7202. She was previously accused of failing to account for and pay over employment taxes to the Internal Revenue Service on similar charges back in June 2019.

Additionally, the Court ordered Martinez to pay a $100 mandatory special assessment cost. In the future, Ms. Martinez must pay restitution for $272,096 to the federal Internal Revenue Service.

According to court documents, Martinez was the President, Director and sole officer of Infinity Construction Resources, Inc. Based in Kenner, LA., this corporation was a staffing agency whose employees worked as temporary laborers for local and out-of-state companies. Martinez started the business with her brother in 2012 before acquiring her brother's share in 2014.

From on or about March 2013, which constituted the first quarter of 2013, to December 2017, which constituted the fourth quarter of 2017, Infinity failed to pay over approximately $272,096 in FICA taxes to the United States Internal Revenue Service. Infinity also fails to pay the payroll taxes during that term.

This matter was handled by the Internal Revenue Service, Criminal Investigation. United States Attorney Duane A. Evans is prosecuting the case.
