Akron Soul Train to present a workshop titled "Walking the Drone."

Akron, OH - Walking the Drone by Akron Soul Train will be happening on August 28.

The event will bring out one of Akron Soul Train's residencies, Megan Young. She will invite you to investigate surveillance technology in Akron.

Megan Young's residence begins in July and concludes with a film screening at the end of the year.

This local Akron artist's art is a mix of embodied protest, deliberate rule disobedience, and group listening.

Young's dismantling and reassembling of algorithmic operations are guided by an open-source or open access attitude to undermine unjust power systems in the industry.

Her achievements are shown on Hyperallergic, The Atlantic, and National Public Radio, which have highlighted her.

Megan Young stated that through overlapping systems of social, political, and personal strictures, her interdisciplinary arts practice investigates the manipulation of bodies.

She claims that bodies are people's initial technology and key interface for discovering ourselves in the world.

It's all to highlight the living codes ingrained in daily life. The work expands beyond formal exhibitions into participant homes, businesses, and gathering locations.

Come to the workshop in the gallery of Akron Soul Train at 191 S Main St. The workshop will include a drone trip downtown. You will get a complete view of your beloved Akron.

If you want to participate in this workshop, register here. The event is free of charge, but you must register to participate.
