KENT, OH — In the coming weeks, five Kent State University alumni will compete in the postponed 2020 Tokyo Olympics. The number of graduates competing this year breaks the school's previous record of four Olympians, set at the 1972 Munich Games.
The five will represent four different countries in the Olympics. Reggie Jagers III will be the first Golden Flash to wear the Team USA uniform since Kim Kreiner in 2008. Track and field action begins on July 30 with the qualifying round of throwing events, which will include Jagers and Jamaican Danniel Thomas-Dodd.
Corey Conners and Mackenzie Hughes—a Canadian combo—will be Kent State's first alumni in action. Finally, when Samory Fraga wears the Brazilian uniform for men's long jump qualification on July 31, he will be the last Flash to compete in the event.
The Tokyo Olympics will be broadcasted on NBCUniversal's networks and platforms. NBCOlympics.com has the complete streaming and broadcast schedule, as well as a high-level schedule grid for all sports and the full competition schedule. Please keep in mind that Tokyo is 13 hours ahead of Eastern Daylight Time.
