AKRON, OH – The City of Akron is accepting applications for a temporary Law Clerk position to assist legal staff in brief writing and legal research. You will be working under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Law at Akron’s Law Department. The vacancy is opened until August 9, 2021.
As a Legal Clerk, your main duties include doing legal preparation especially for arguments in cases where the City of Akron is involved, conducting legal research, preparing legal briefs, filing legal documents from the court action, acquiring particular documents from related agencies to prepare appropriate and suitable court action. You will also be asked to meet and interview witnesses, and do other tasks as needed.
To apply, you should at least meet the qualifications, such as enrolled in an accredited law school and have a Legal Intern Certificate or qualified to obtain it, understand the affiliations between government agencies, able to show logical arguments, both written and spoken.
You will work four days a week from 8a.m. – 4.30p.m., except on Monday where you will start at 12.30 PM following the Prosecutor’s Office working hours. Benefits such as health insurance, emergency accident care, inpatient hospitalization, surgical medical prescription, and more will be discussed in a later process. Paid leave and sick leave may include in the benefits.
You will be paid $14.35 - $18.85 hourly should you be selected as the perfect candidate.
