AKRON, OH — During Lock 3’s 18-week summer season, Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan and Lock 3 are excited to announce a new partnership with North Akron Community Development Corporation’s NoHi.

“The NoHi pop-up is a real Akron success story,” said Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan. “As we welcome fans and families back downtown this summer, we are excited to be able to offer the NoHi experience to an even wider audience. By partnering with the North Akron CDC to bring NoHi to Lock 3 we will be able to showcase the creative and diverse flavors of our local food entrepreneurs.”

During operating hours, NoHi, owned and operated by the North Akron Community Development Corporation in collaboration with the City of Akron, will facilitate and supervise a rotating test kitchen in Lock 3.

Justin Chenault, Operating Director of NACDC, states, “Working with Lock 3—which hosts historically large crowds and fast foods—has created an incredible opportunity for the NoHi team to come together with the City of Akron and make an experience that’s greater for all involved. First and foremost, we’re working to showcase the talents of culinary artists in Akron, while also bringing Lock 3 guests unique food that is also extremely local and fresh.”

Chenault and his team have upgraded the kitchen at Lock 3 with mixers and food processors to feature gourmet items at reasonable prices, such as this week’s rotating menu, which includes Chicken Boudin Balls for $5, Bayou City Shrimp Po Boy Basket, Crispy Fish Tacos and Mexican Loaded Fries for $8 each.

Those interested in learning more about NoHi or participating as a local food vendor or culinary artist should contact Chenault at justin@northakroncdc.org.

Lock 3’s summer schedule, including evening concerts, movies, exercise classes, and community events, was designed to bring back safe community entertainment while also providing top-notch experiences for the entire family.

Additional event information will be posted as it becomes available at Lock3Live.com.
