CLEVELAND, OH — Officer Brandon Long from Hilliard Division of Police has recently been appointed as State Director of the Law Enforcement Touch Run for Special Olympics Ohio.

Commenting on the appointment, Officer Long said, "to say I am excited to be State Director for the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ohio would be a drastic understatement."

He added, "The impact SOOH has on athletes is incredible. The partnership with LETR only enhances this, and helps breaks down barriers as we strive for inclusion."

CEO of Special Olympics Ohio Jessica Stewart explained the capabilities Officer Long has as a leader to bring to the SOOH, saying, "Brandon exemplifies our Special Olympics Ohio mission every day and truly understands the importance of our partnership at both a state and local level. We are looking forward to the growth of our LETR program under his leadership."

In the coming months, Officer Long will collaborate with Special Olympics Ohio to build an Executive Board and State Committee for Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics Ohio.

The law enforcement officials on both of those leadership teams will grow the Law Enforcement Run community and guard the Flame of Hope for all Special Olympics Ohio athletes.

For over eight years, Officer Long has served Special Olympics Hilliard as a coach and participated in the Law Enforcement Torch Run (LETR). He has also developed friendships and discovered a passion for working with athletes of SOOH during his service with Special Olympics Ohio for years.

Officer Long has brought enthusiasm and dedication to the community, and he will also bring a desire for inclusion to his new role.
