Rubber City Theatre has announced on May 27 that the tickets for the world premiere of "On the Line" musical by composers and writers Amy Burgess and Rachel Dean are now on sale.
The premier will take place on June 5, 2021, at 2:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Lock 3 in Akron. The ticket to the VIP area ranges from $25-35, while all other areas in the park are free to enter, and a digital ticket will be available for $20. The theater recommends bringing blankets or chairs for a comfortable experience.
The show is set in 1945 when the G.S. Good Rubber Factory in Akron, Ohio, struggles to produce rubber for World War II. With most men serving the country abroad, female workers have no time to be weak as they have to overcome the new, tough work environment of factory life and liberate themselves.
This show is a loose adaptation of William Shakespeare's "A Midsummer Night's Dream" as it features LGBTQ+ characters. Some of the characters are the factory forewoman Helen, the factory machinist Billie, the factory owner's daughter Ellie, and a female Naval Lieutenant turned filmmaker Sandra.
The cast includes Tess Primack and Alexis Sims, both New York-based Equity actors, with local actors Lana Sugarman and Anna Popa.
"I am delighted to be back working on a live, in-person production after this year of pause. We have a great team of artists coming together to bring to life this show which is three years in the making!" said executive director of Rubber City Theatre, Dan Leasure.
