Family-Friendly Performance Features Community and Professional Dancers
The newly-formed Magic City Performing Arts (MCPA) will host Ballet in the Park on April 9, 2022 at Railroad Park. The performance will begin at 4:00 PM and last about an hour. Ballet in the Park attendees can make it a double-header and go to the Baron’s game after the show. This is the organization’s inaugural spring show.
Picnic blankets and food are welcome while you watch excerpts of The Sleeping Beauty, Pas de Quatre, Paquita, among other familiar works. There will also be beer, wine and charcuterie boxes for sale. Reserved picnic blanket spaces are also available.
“The cast is a mix of professionals and community members,” said Stephanie Rangel, Artistic Director of Magic City Performing Arts. “We are collaborating with Formations Dance Company, Birmingham’s professional contemporary company, as well as Samford Dance Company. Additionally, open auditions were held in January, and we cast everyone who came. We invite everyone to come to this family-friendly experience and sway or dance along to the beauty of classical ballet.”
