Absolutely huge news came out in the NBA on Friday as Brooklyn Nets superstar Kyrie Irving is done with the team, and has demanded that they trade him prior to next week’s trade deadline, according to multiple reports.
Irving had been suspended for several games after comments he had made earlier in the season, which can be read about here.
It is not clear how receptive the Brooklyn Nets will be to the demands, as they are fighting for a playoff spot, and are currently 31-20, despite having a very rough stretch that has seen them lose seven of their last 11 games. Trading away a legendary top star of the league such as Irving could further dash their hopes for this season.
The trade deadline is Thursday, so the team will have to decide what to do about the issue before then.
Following the announcement of Kyrie’s demands, Twitter lit up with the possibility of Kyrie being traded to the Los Angeles Lakers to join LeBron James as LeBron seeks another championship in his final seasons.
Shams Charania, an NBA insider who often breaks top league news, reports that Irving said if he is not traded, he will leave the team in free agency, which starts in July after the season ends, so no matter if the Nets trade him or not, it seems we are in our last season seeing Kyrie and KD on the court together.
