Buccaneers Looking To Poach Top Coach

NFL Network’s Ian Rapoprt broke some major NFL coaching news on Monday with word that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are expected to interview a top college football coach in their search for an offensive coordinator.

Rapoprt says that the Bucs will be interviewing Georgia’s Offensive Coordinator, Todd Monken, for the job on Tuesday. He says that Monken is a “strong candidate to take his old job with a new head coach.”

What he is referring to there is that Monken was hired as the offensive coordinator for the Bucs years ago, following the 2015 season. He remained in that position until after the 2018 season, when the head coach, Dirk Koetter, was not brought back.

Following his time with the Bucs, he then went to Cleveland to be the offensive coordinator for the Cleveland Browns. On January 17, 2020, he was hired as both the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach for the Georgia Bulldogs in the NFL.

He has flipped back and forth between the college and professional ranks as a coach, and it is looking like he may be headed back to the pros for the 2023-2024 season.

The Bucs job is not the only job that Monken has been interested in, as he interviewed for the offensive coordinator job with the Baltimore Ravens last week and has been mentioned as a contender for multiple jobs.
