The Dallas Mavericks currently are sitting in the 6th sport of the Western Conference in the National Basketball Association with a 25-24 record. The team is in the middle of the pack in pace to make a playoff spot, but they may be about to have a rough road ahead due to a massive injury.
During the Dallas Mavericks versus Phoenix Suns game on Thursday night in Phoenix, Arizona, the Dallas Mavericks lost superstar Luka Doncic to an ankle injury in the first quarter of the game.
Luka Doncic suffered the injury just minutes into the game when he stepped on a foot and rolled his ankle. He immediately was taken to the locker room for x-rays, which fortunately have come up negative.
However, it looks like Luka Doncic could be dealing with the potential of a serious ankle sprain that depending on the grade could limit his ability to play in upcoming games.
Just earlier today, NBA all-star game starters were announced and Luka Doncic earned his spot with the Western Conference all-star starters. Currently, his ability to play in that February 19th all-star game could be up in the air if his ankle sprain is deemed serious enough.
Entering this game, Luka Doncic is averaging a league-high 33.8 points per game, 9.1 rebounds per game, and 8.6 assists per game. He currently is in 4th place in the KIA MVP ladder for best odds to win NBA MVP this season.
If Luka Doncic misses any substantial length of time, his loss would be felt mightily by the Dallas Mavericks.
