As trade season kicks into gear in the NBA, teams are looking to move pieces to try and better position themselves for the rest of the season with one team, the Los Angeles Lakers, making a significant move after they had been searching around for trade partners for much of the season and even stretching back into the preseason.
The Los Angeles Lakers announced Monday that they have completed a trade with the Washington Wizards for Rui Hachimura, sending Kendrick Nunn and three second-round picks to the Wizards. The trade was originally reported on by The Athletic's Shams Charania.
The Lakers are reportedly sending their 2023 second-round pick from Chicago, their own second-rounder in the 2029 draft, and the worse pick between the two teams in the second round of the 2028 draft.
The Lakers have been searching high and low on the trade market recently to try and bolster their roster following injuries to Austin Reaves and Lonnie Walker IV which had forced the team to come up with some unique lineups to try and keep up on the wings.

This year, Kendrick Nunn has played in 39 games, averaging 6.7 PPG, 2.6 RPG, and 2.5 APG. Hachimura has posted 13 points per game, 4.3 rebounds, and just over an assist per game, according to ESPN Stats. He also put up a season-high 30 points Saturday against the Orlando Magic.
