Free agent Wide Receiver Odell Beckham Jr. is expected to sign soon, but we are left wondering to which team. Current reports from ESPN have Odell Beckham Jr signing a deal after Thanksgiving. With Thanksgiving only 3 days away, the veteran pro bowl receiver may have a new home before the end of the week. The only question is for which team?
Currently, Odell Beckham Jr. has been out up until this point in the season rehabbing after suffering a torn ACL in the Super Bowl on February 13, 2022. He was expected to be medically cleared in mid-November. Teams have already started lining up, so let's go over the potential places that could use the veteran receiver.
What we do know is Odell Beckham Jr. wants to join a playoff contender.
The number one team mentioned for signing Odell Beckham Jr. is the 7-3 Dallas Cowboys. It starts with Jerry Jones talking on the radio about how much he likes Beckham Jr. Beckham “is someone we have all the appreciation in the world for, for what he is as a competitor and know that the Cowboys star on the helmet, when he puts it on could look pretty good.” Odell added fuel to the fire this week when after the Cowboys trounced the Vikings 40-3 he tweeted:
The second team that has drawn a lot of interest that could sign Odell Beckham Jr. would be his first team, the New York Giants. The Giants were Beckham's first team and where he spent the first 5 seasons of his NFL playing career. So far this season the Giants are 7-3 and right in the thick of the playoffs, yet they have been having struggles finding a star receiver. They traded away Kadarius Toney and just today lost 2nd-round rookie receiver Wan'Dale Robinson to a torn ACL. With the need for a wide receiver so massive, a reunion might be in the cards.
Thirdly, we have the Kansas City Chiefs. The Kansas City Chiefs have been near the top of Super Bowl favorites year in and year out. This past offseason they traded away their top receiver in Tyreek Hill. Since then, they have tried replacing him with a bunch of different receivers. They signed Juju Smith-Schuster, Marquez Valdes-Scantling, and at the trade deadline traded for Giants WR Kadarius Toney. However, in just his second game for the Chiefs, Toney aggravated his hamstring injury and had to exit this weeks game. They also recently placed Mecole Hardman on the IR and Juju Smith-Schuster also missed this past week due to injury. With so many injuries and uncertainty at WR, the Chiefs could easily use the talent and playmaking ability of Odell Beckham Jr.
Also according to ESPN, other teams in the mix for Odell Beckham Jr. include the Buffalo Bills and San Francisco 49ers. Both teams are Super Bowl contenders.
There is also underdog potential of the Green Bay Packers and Los Angeles Rams, but both teams have almost certainly fallen out of playoff contention.
Lastly, a dark horse nobody talks about could be the New England Patriots. Their offensive woes continued this week, but they are 6-4 and in the playoff picture. Last season, Odell Beckham Jr. was close to signing with the Patriots over the Los Angeles Rams. He made the right call ending up on the Super Bowl champions, but maybe this year he could think he would become the missing piece in an offense clearly missing something.
There are a lot of teams that could use the talents of Odell Beckham Jr, and we will likely find out his future team decision this week or next.
