By now everyone has heard of the Gabby Petito case. Her and her boyfriend had embarked on a cross country trip in July. Gabby was widely known due to her big social media influence and she documented the whole trip until her disappearance. Brian Laundrie returned home without Gabby on September 1st. Her family realizing that Brian was home and Gabby was not home yet raised suspicion. On September 11 they filed a missing person report. Gabby's body was found September 19, the coroner said she had been strangled to death. The feds could not find a direct connection to her death and the boyfriend Brian so they issued a warrant for his arrest for using her credit card a week after her death.
Brian told his parents he was going on a hiking trip right after he had just got back from the trip with Gabby. He went to the 25000-acre Carlton Reserve on September 13th and was never to be heard from again.
Yesterday they found partial remains of a body near personal belongings that belong to Brian according to the fbi. The agent in charge Michael Mcpherson gave a brief update on the findings on the search for Brian Laundrie. He did not take any questions or identify the remains, probably waiting on the lab results to come in. Brian Laundrie was an avid outdoorsman and very familiar with the area he could have staged the whole thing. "As you are aware the FBI and North Port Police Department, and our state and local law enforcements, have been searching the area of the Carlton Reserve for Brian Laundrie- a person of interest in the murder of Gabby Petito," Mcpherson said. "Earlier today, investigators found what appears to be human remains, along with personal items such as a backpack and notebook belonging to Brian Laundrie." According to Mcpherson, the FBI's evidence team is at the scene using "all available forensic resources" to process the area at the park for several days.
