1) Seven Dwarfs Mine Train
If you love roller coasters, this is the best ride for you. This family-friendly coaster takes riders through a mine where they come face to face with some of your favorite dwarfs from the movie Snow White and The Seven Dwarves. It’s one of Disney’s most popular rides; it opened in 2014 and still has long wait times. We recommend getting in line for this one as soon as you enter the park. If you’re not up for a full roller coaster, there is another option! The Barnstormer gives riders an exciting adventure with the Great Goofini and his stunt planes. It’s shorter but just as fun!
2) Big Thunder Mountain Coaster
This is the best ride for thrill-seekers. This roller coaster takes you on a journey through the desert in search of gold, but beware as there are some dangers along the way including runaway mine cars and falling rocks! The best part about this ride is that it’s open during fireworks shows because it goes right by Cinderella Castle. So if you don’t want to wait in long lines for a roller coaster, just ride the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad during the fireworks show to get an extra thrill. This ride is best for children who are at least 40 inches tall, and also best experienced in the front seat of the train!
3) Pirates of the Caribbean
Who doesn’t love the movie Pirates of the Caribbean? Now you can experience it in real life! This ride is best for those who want to take a relaxing boat tour around pirate-infested waters. The best part about this attraction is that all your favorite characters from the movies are included, including Jack Sparrow and Captain Barbosa. Just sit back, relax and take in the scenery of this attraction. The only negative thing about this ride is that it’s a little slow, and some parts might be scary for young kids. You can find Pirates of the Caribbean at Adventureland (by Swiss Family Treehouse).
4) Space Mountain
This is one of the best high-speed rollercoasters in all of Walt Disney World. This attraction is best suited for people who enjoy a bit more excitement and speed, but it’s still appropriate for those with younger children as well. There are two different tracks on this ride: one that travels through space, and the other where you will end up going around the actual ride on the Tomorrowland Transit Authority PeopleMover. This coaster is best for those who want to experience a bit of everything. You can find this ride at Tomorrowland (by the Astro Orbitor). It’s best to get in line during Early Morning Magic because it tends to have shorter wait times than other attractions throughout the day.
5) Splash Mountain
This high-speed flume ride has been a favorite of many since it opened in 1992. The best ride to take advantage of during Early Morning Magic is Splash Mountain because you can get on the ride quickly and easily while others are still waiting in line for other attractions. This attraction features animatronic characters from Disney’s 1946 film Song of the South. Disney announced in 2017 that Splash Mountain at Disneyland Park and Magic Kingdom Park would be rethemed as part of the company’s efforts to bring more diverse representation to the theme park. The announcement was met with a lot of different responses from Disney fans, some positive and others critical. The fans for The Princess and the Frog, a film about a black princess, felt excited and joyous upon learning that it would replace their beloved Splash Mountain. While others who found Splash Mountain as classic and iconic went as far as to petition against its removal.
6) The Barnstormer featuring the Great Goofini
The Barnstormer featuring the Great Goofini is a family ride best suited for children. It’s not too scary, but it still has thrills that will make kids squeal with delight as they “fly” over their parents’ heads! The experience begins in an old barn where the Great Goofini takes you on a daredevil flight. This is a great ride for the whole family! The Great Goofini is a fun family attraction in the Magic Kingdom. The coaster vehicle looks like an old airplane, and you’ll spend the entire time going through “stunts” until you reach your final landing. 3/3 The Barnstormer is a great roller coaster at Magic Kingdom that parents and children can enjoy together. The whole family will love this thrilling, but a not terrifying experience where you’ll feel like an airplane pilot soaring over the heads of park-goers below.
7) The Haunted Mansion
Ready for some good old-fashioned scares? The Haunted Mansion is not for the faint of heart. While the ride is best known for its “Ghost Host” spiel, it’s also filled with some pretty terrifying animatronic figures. If you’re into haunted houses and horror movies this might be your number one pick on our best magic kingdom rides list! It originally opened in 1971 and it’s been one of the best Magic Kingdom rides ever since. In 2016, the ride was closed down for refurbishment and reopened with new effects like projection mapping onto Madame Leota’s face as well as some more frightening effects throughout the house! The best part? The entire attraction is actually set inside of a cemetery. It’s truly spooky and it’s the best magic kingdom ride for Halloween! Kids can enjoy it too, just make sure they’re brave enough to go on!
