Rockmart Residents Killed in Crash Near Baldwin
The Georgia State Patrol on Friday released the names of a man and woman killed in a single-vehicle wreck just outside of Baldwin on December 6. The driver was 46-year-old Douglas Clover of Rockmart, Georgia. His passenger was 61-year-old Debra Minneman, also of Rockmart. Both died when the Cadillac CTS they were traveling in went airborne and crashed onto the train tracks and a rail car at the Fieldale plant at 5282 Old Gainesville Highway.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office in North Carolina is warning Georgia residents about a man on the loose wanted on felony charges related to a kidnapping and robbery. On November 30, a Cherokee County resident picked up Jordan Hedden and Stephanie Neace while they were hitchhiking. Officials say Hedden then kidnapped the woman, forcing her into the backseat while he drove.

The incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on December 2 near Bridgewater Drive, outside a neighborhood south of the Habersham County landfill.

Francisco Matias was killed on Nov. 18 when he was ejected from the car he was driving after it struck a ditch and overturned. State troopers say Matias was wearing his seatbelt, but it broke during the crash.

A year-long drug investigation in North Georgia landed one man in jail on drug trafficking charges. Authorities have also issued arrest warrants for his son. On Nov. 8, multiple state and local law enforcement agencies conducted a raid on a residence in Blue Ridge where illegal drugs were allegedly being sold. While executing the search warrant, agents say they located and seized approximately 16 kilograms of methamphetamine, 906 grams of marijuana, 45 firearms, miscellaneous drug paraphernalia, and cash.
