Walcott Police, in collaboration with the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation (DCI), discovered human remains on Friday morning, as confirmed by Walcott Police Chief Jeff Blake.

The remains were found around 11:35 a.m. in a wooded area off of West Otis Street, near the tennis courts at Rowe Lane. Notably, the remains were in women's clothing.

Chief Blake mentioned that in July, the DCI sought public assistance in locating Sandra Rubenstein, 57, who was last seen in the Walcott area on March 14. Given the proximity and timeline, there may be a potential link between the remains found and Rubenstein's case, although this has not been confirmed.

The remains have been sent to the state crime lab for identification. The investigation into this discovery, as well as any connection to Rubenstein's missing person case, is ongoing.

Chief Blake indicated that he had transferred Rubenstein's case to the DCI, citing their extensive investigative resources. Any additional information regarding these cases will be provided by the DCI.
