(PINAL COUNTY, AZ) Springtime in the desert is a beautiful season to celebrate the women who serve as mothers in our lives. You can enjoy leisure time with these special ladies in a number of ways, through some hosted events in neighboring cities, or in creative ways by exploring some of Arizona’s attractions together. Here are a few ideas to get you started if you are still looking for the perfect way to spend the day.
If you live near Apache Junction, enjoy their annual Mother’s Day Tea, held in the City of Apache Junction’s Multi-Generational Center. Tea and treats will be served from 11:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m., with a $10 requested fee. Check their website here for availability. The nationally recognized Multi-Generational Center also offers fun recreational options like pickleball, volleyball, basketball as well as a 28' climbing wall if you and your mom are feeling active. Fitness programs and a variety of special interest classes are available to the public in the center as well.
Do you prefer to be outdoors to celebrate your mom? Then, choose to visit a nearby park area called Silly Mountain Park. It may have a silly name, but is a great option to enjoy Apache Junction’s beauty. With nearly a dozen trails to choose from, ranging in difficulty, plan a sunrise hike before the heat hits and witness the spectacular views. You can get a glimpse of the area in the City of Apache Junction’s park map here. Other park options and venue rental facilities can be found on their website’s park division page.
Let’s continue to another city in Pinal County - Casa Grande. A vibrant event just for moms is taking place from 3:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m. at the Museum of Casa Grande’s Heritage Hall. Hosted by event organizer Lorde Haus, Casa Grande and neighboring communities are cordially to this first-ever Mother's Day Celebration. Your mom and family members will enjoy music, entertainment, art vendors, food options, and beverages, creating an early evening with fun, memorable experiences. Plus, door prizes and raffles will be occurring for guests throughout the celebration.
Curious about the venue? The Casa Grande Valley Historical Society founded The Museum of Casa Grande in 1964, as an effort to preserve and exhibit the history of the Casa Grande area. They offer a wide collection of historical artifacts, documents, and over 30,000 photographs of the city, including over 200 valuable oral history and family heirloom collections. In 2010, the museum was awarded the El Merito award by the Museum Association of Arizona in recognition of outstanding dedication of volunteers who keep the museum a point of pride for the community.
Overall, this is a great option to celebrate the mom in your life by honoring the past and present at a great venue in Casa Grande. To purchase tickets to the Mother’s Day event, visit their page on Eventbrite.
Due to COVID concerns, many families are choosing to play it safe and stay indoors. The Pinal County website offers these sweet solutions to celebrate your mom (or grandma) away from public spaces, by suggesting creating a decorative table piece or door adornment from local flower shops or garden items, baking some treats together, or virtually tour a museum or historic destination, which many in Arizona destinations offer.
